Cool story but the new owner needs to get on here and get better info on his car.  Since he thinks it should have a SS hood and a 4 speed..  It says "Duct Hood" on the order sheet that was in the glovebox..  And especially if he thinks it needs a full restoration.  Id leave it as is.  Its only original once!!   ;)

From the story, does not sound like it is all original.  Lots of confusion in that story but looks like it was originally a 3 speed manual transmission and now has a powerglide?  Air cleaner lid swapped. Not sure what else has been changed.

Original duct hood is very rare on SS 350. He got a good deal, even with a little rust, as long as the rust is not too bad.

Nice find.  I saw the story on MSN Homepage and was going to share it here, but found out it was already shared.  I hope the owner finds his way here.  Yes, there is some confusion about how it actually came from the factory (Trans.).  I think it says the P.O.P. was in the Glove box, it would be nice if the owner found his way here and got it decoded.
