Thanks Gary for posting photo for me.  This photo of the 67 Z/28 was taken in the pits at the 1967 Indy Winter Nationals by my mom, with my Dad beside her, with me sitting on my dads shoulders.  I think my parents were taking a break from me screaming at the top of my lungs every time a Top Fuel went by.  My Dad still to this day riddles me about that.  I will say, I wasn't but 4 1/2 years old, what did you expect!  I hope someone recognizes this Z!

The other cool part of the story is Ben had told me about his tow car, a matching Tahoe turquoise 396 Impala convertible.  He's never been able to come up with a photo of that car but you have unknowingly supplied a color photo of his '67 Z28 and the 396 Impala.  Very cool.  I'm going to call him now.

Wow,  All this time I have had this photo, I would think, Gee it was a shame you didn't take a photo of the side of it.  Great photo, this is very cool.  You know, the photos of the 67 Yenko posted the other day inspired me to dig this photo out.  Maybe others will start digging.

Bryan, Ben doesn't remember that event.  Especially Indy Winder Nationals.  There would be sonw there at that time of the year.  He won the Indy in '67 so I have to wonder if this was taken at the U.S. Nationals when he won?  Here's a photo that I shot with Ben and my Strickler Z28 at the 2004 Bristol national event.  We pitted together and this is the first year he debuted the new original lettering on the car.  Very cool.

Ben is a great guy as well.  I have talked with him a few times at Indy and his brother Dave once. Great guys and a great car.

Jerry@CHP:  Did you happen to notice the '62 Impala 'Old Reliable' next to the Wenzel Z28 in 1967??  :)

Yes, but it was not a Jenkins Strickler car.  They were into a new L78 Camaro that B. Jenkins drove and Strickler was driving a funnycar style Corvette in 1967.

I think I have just figured out that Bryan's original photo was taken at Indy, the U.S. Nationals which Ben wound up winning.  Note the shoe polish on the front windshield matches perfecly to the photo in the winner's circle, September 1967.  Jenkins won the NHRA Super Stock Eliminator at this event too.

Hey Jerry, just wanted to mention that I went back and looked at the original photo of the Z, and the photo has Sept. 1967 printed at the top.  So it was the U. S. Nationals.
