Does anyone have 6 B1 and 6 B2 that is missing from the 67 AIM?
Trying to solve SB dipstick color and part # identification problem.
I think the # is 3896212.

WOW...Bob, I had my 67 AM since the early 80's and that too doesn't have those pages.
I never realized it until reading your post.
What color do you think it is? I have a few I found in my shed I know I took from parts cars in the 80's.

John,
At this point I have no idea what color plug is on the stick. The 69 P&A is the only source for the part # 3896212 w/ a to full mark length of 17 25/32 and a to add length of 18 7/16 that I can find.
Maybe someone with a 67 and 68 P&A can verify my part # 3896212.
The 69 P&A shows 3923239 w/ 17 11/32 to full and 18 7/16 to add for all sb engines and 68 AIM verifies # and gray plug identification. Same dipstick tube and pan as 67 sb engines.
The 69 P&A shows 3951576 w/ 17 5/16 to full and 18 3/16 to add for all sb engines and 69 AIM verifies 3 and green plug identification. Same dipstick tube but new pan 3961399.
Believe 67 Vette used 3862730 w/23 13/64to full and 24 to add w/black plug.
Do not believe 67 used gray plug because of part number change for 68. 68 dipstick added a little more oil to pan.
Anyone else have an idea what style and color was used in 67 and why ?

A long time ago I bought a new dipstick from the Chevrolet parts department for a '67 small block and the color of the button or plug was brown.

My parts book shows part # 3896912 for 67 302,327, and 350.
The pics are of the dipstick in my 67 ss 350 camaro with original 37k miles on it when I purchased in 2001.
In the picture it appears dark red but, to me it looks brown.
