67 heater core and box
« on: October 13, 2006, 08:41:54 PM »
Had to pull out the heater box inside the car and it came apart in my hands, (after the swearing of course). Where would be the best place to source a replacement quickly as I am on limited time for an inspection. Core looks ok just a bit of a clean needed.

I live in Canada on west coast so if u know Canadian then saves some cost(or does it, read that Canadian parts guys just mark it up anyway).

Thanks, the posts have really helped with what I am trying to accomplish with this car. ;D

If you have it apart...either replace the heater core or at least have it checked... HOT ANTIFEEZE on the feet is not a very pleasant experience... even less so if there is carpet in the car!

Coast,
A few years ago, I had to replace my heater core in my 69.  Just for fun I stopped into my local Auto Zone to see if they could order one.  They had it on the shelf for about $40.  I would give a local large chain auto parts store a try.  I was told that this core is very common and fits a number of other GM vehicles

Good luck

Same thing. I found a heater core for my 67 at the local parts store for $35. Bring your old one for comparison.

I need to replace the heater core in my 67 non-AC vehicle.  Was wondering how many mounting studs are attached to the interior heater box that has to be removed?  I can get at 5 nuts in the engine side on the firewall, is that all I need to remove?  or do I have to remove the fender to get at and remove more than the five I can see?

To pull out the interior part, you just need to get to the five.
