Shift knob
« on: July 30, 2014, 03:35:07 AM »
I can't believe someone would pay this much for a shift knob or is just Canadian prices? If they do, I have one that still has paint in the shift pattern I could get plenty for.

And $28 shipping! Not likely to sell it.

Aren't that sellers prices a bit out of line or is that actually Canadian prices being asked? Kind of wondering if he/she sells anything.

It's not even a GM part - it's a Hurst aftermarket knob.

Shoot - mine looks better, $5.00 at the local swap meet. I sold one a year ago, same shape, for $40.00 plus shipping. I know they are aftermarket; like my Hurst "T" handles, they are vintage cool to me.

The older white ones look like ivory when they acquire enough skin oil -

That's what mine looks like. No faded black in the lines. I have a white Hurst T-handle with the big H and the  1 2 3 4 and the word Hurst in the center and the same in metal that I kept from my 69 Judge. Love those handles. I was wondering if anyone ever flocked a Hurst T-handle like the ones from the 70's. I have one I would like to do black.

I used to make sure I had gloves on in freezing weather - grabbing the T handle before the heater could warm up was a memorable experience. Both of mine (one from 1973 - on my '69 Z, the other was on my '68 Z in '96) are plain aluminum finish.

I bought a black flocked one in the 70's just for that reason. I took a long slow trip to Memphis, Tn one week end and ended up scratching almost all of it off by the time I got there with my finger nails. I was running 4.88's in my first Z so it took a while. Just a tad over 1000 miles from Dover AFB. That black fuzzy stuff was everywhere on my console.
