Frederick Nationals ...
« on: June 21, 2014, 03:30:00 AM »
Well, Friday is done at the Nationals.   Bryan302 and I drove 12 hrs Thursday to get here, and today bright and early we were at the Fairgrounds..   The day was gorgeous...not very hot.. cool even (compared to Alabama); We saw some fantastic cars going thru the judging process, and met some great owners.   Among the CRG guys that we met were:   Chick, NoYenko (George), DuskBlueZ (Mike), Scott Miano, and a couple of other folks with cars being judged whose names are escaping me as I write this.    Note:  Bryan and I were the only ones wearing our CRG shirts...  but they did get noticed.. :)

Tomorrow morning, we are heading to Carlisle (an hour or so up the road)... we'll spend Saturday and then spend Sunday driving home...  Wish more of you guys were here..    If you've never been you would really enjoy it and the 'learning' esperience.

A few photos from Frederick nationals (last Friday)... as I left for Carlisle early Sat morning...  the ones I'm posting are chosen because they came out 'small enough' (below 150 Kb) after running Light Image Digitizer the first time.. :)
I'll do some more later as I have time..   it seems the single photo limit has been raised to 200kb, but the total size limit is still 500kb.   4 photos at 200Kb would be 800kb.. I sure wish it worked that way.. :)

and more...  including George (NoYenko) trunk..    I was admiring his very nice trunk mat which looked to be either NOS or an outstanding repro?  (I wish I could find a source for one like it).. :)

It was great to meet George NoYenko, see his beautiful blue/white 396 powered coupe and talk with him..   finding out from him the reason for his 'NoYenko' CRG name (a great story). :)
George:  Let us know how you did on the points when you find out...    your car and your photo book are both great!

thanks for the pics Gary. I couldn't quite read the placard on the green 69 Z. What was the significance of that car according to the plaque?

Says:  "The ONLY Documented Z with a X11 Trim Tag and a "M" Code Block"

Other than that it is too small for me to read.

The placard said that it was the only documented X11 Z28... and it also had the original DZ engine which was a rare 'M date coded' block.    When I first saw this plaque and read it at last year's nationals, I was very dubious on all that as it conflicted with what I believed to be 'correct', but later I had opportunity to talk with him at great length (hours), and see his original photos and documentation from when he bought the car 20+ yrs before, and I became a believer.  It's interesting to conjecture how a body initially coded by Fisher as an X11 car, came to be completed as a Z28 by Norwood assembly... :)    The owner, Al Krebs, owns a body and paint shop business in NJ (K&H Automotive), and is a great guy to talk to (as is his wife who has been there with him both years).   and his car is beautiful;  a Nov '69 built car, that also has some of the late year components on it, as does mine.
Here's a better view of his info board....  He also has the original window sticker... :)

funny that dusk blue Z with the ZL2 hood, his rubber seal looks identical to mine, (which I have heard on here is incorrect), but then the blue Z his seal looks almost straight up and down on the rubber seal. Interesting since all the pictures Gary took, the cars look very clean and correct. Great pics, feel like I was there Gary.... :)
