I guess more to come.

"NOTE THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION STAMPS DIFFER IN APPEARANCE. DO NOT THINK THAT THE TRANS IS A RESTAMP. THERE ARE MANY DOCUMENTED CASES OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION  BEING STAMPED WITH DIFFERENT TOOLS. CHECK WITH THE CRG AND YOU WILL SEE I AM CORRECT.THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL BORN WITH ENGINE AND TRANS. I WILL BE POSTING MORE PHOTOS."

Saw this ad as well. Anxious to see the photos of the stamps seller says he will be posting. Are there documented cases, as the seller claims, where the transmission and engine vin stamps dont match?

I was wondering the same thing. He says CRG is the place to go to confirm that. I've never read that on here or anywhere before. I was hoping some of the CRG experts would chime in on that claim.

It's an 11Nxxxxxx on block. I thought there was a recent car that appeared on here like that. Transmission stamp is crisp. Cool car

I've seen different VIN fonts on the trans and the engine on later 69 NOR cars.
No idea why, but several have been on original, low-po cars, clearly not restamps.

Pad is original.

Hi everyone, New member here.  Ive also posted this in the 'L78 unrestored pace car' forum since it looks like that car has the same '11N' issue as mine and this hugger orange DZ.

I have a similar issue as this car that might help me. I have a 69 396 4speed pace car.  Ive tracked it back to 1978.
I, too have the'11N' date code on the engine, specifically 11N 625385.  My block has also been decked way long ago.  When I got the car in 2001, I had the engine cleaned up and it was found to be 60 over already and had recently had an engine rebuild…The shop told me similar to the other stories on here..blocks in the 80s were always decked. My casting date is C 20 9, heads are C21 9 and C24 9, and my car is an 03E car…all line up quite well.

What I am trying to learn is does anyone know why the block would have had a stamping of '11N'?  Im the third one to have that it seems.  My car seems to have a complete matching driveline.  Id love to hear from anyone who can help with the credibility of a '11N' stamping.

Hi All,

Just an interesting update.  I was contacted by another pace car owner. .Our numbers are only about 120 off. Also an 03E car, 350 automatic. It is a bow tie gold winner. Looks like his car was built the same day as mine, being #625510 to my 625385.   he also has the '11N' on the block casting area…also, his '6' is non existent…mine is barely legible also.  Any other 03E cars out there with this issue?

Rick
