Cool items. You are correct  it takes patience waiting for them to be found or be listed for sale. It also depends on the dealer, and how much they advertised.

After finding out yesterday that my car was from Smith Motor Sales in San Antonio and seeing this thread made me curious so I got on ebay and found a dealership postcard picture and a matchbook.  Got them both for less than $20 total.  With a huge amount of luck, there might be a gold '67 in the dealer window of the postcard pic

WTG, thats what its all about. When you do your search on ebay, *hit the option to save the search. This way ebay will email you if anything pops up, and you don't need to do a search everyday.

Even though I am very appreciative of what Roy and the NCRS are doing, it would have been cool if this could have been done a few short years ago before the big GM bankruptcy and forced dealership closings. There might have been a better chance of some old paperwork still being available. I'm sure now that the NCRS information is out that a lot of the dealers that are either still in business or have changed ownership will be getting a lot of calls. Some of them will be polite and helpful but most will not be very friendly and feel like their time is being wasted.
When I purchased my 66 SS Chevelle with the POP many years ago I researched the dealership and called them. They informed me that it had changed ownership a few years earlier and they had no information to offer and were not very helpful. They made me feel like I was bothering them. I guess in reality I was

I knew the dealer that originally sold my car (due to the plaque affixed, and the tag frame).   Sometime after I purchased the car in '76 (it might have been as late as 1980 or so), I went by the dealership and asked if anyone had worked there in '69..  There were a couple of salemen, etc who had been there when the dealership opened in '68.   When I explained and described my car (I was not driving it - although that might have triggered some memories and maybe got some help), they told me the old records had been stored and then destroyed...

Forward 30 yrs...   Last weekend we had a large car show in an adjacent town, and I ran into an old friend who had been in the Chevrolet parts business for many years since the late '70's or early 80's..   He now works at that dealership (Joe V Clayton Chevrolet in Arab, AL).   After the car show, I gave his daughter a ride in my ZR1 and he and his wife followed me home in their truck (48 Chevy rat rod but nice)..   When he saw my Camaro, his wife commented..   look it was sold at Joe V...  and he said.   I wish I'd known you had that car a couple of years ago, before they tossed all the old records (He told me they had those records in the attic, but they only tossed them 2 or 3 years ago!~)..

Basically this story is intended just to point out that even if they have the records, they don't want to spend the time/effort to go thru them to find YOUR sales paperwork..  (I had even offered to pay them for the time way back when..  and offered to come and help..  but no dice!..)

That one isn't owned by me, just an auction. I have seen a handful of them on ebay. Do you have it on your car, or just as a display piece?

Currently a display piece that can be placed on the car anytime. Current one on car is a repro!

Good idea Bullitt, I vote since you started this thread that you start the new one.

Here is the license plate frame that I found on ebay for my 66 Ca. Chevelle. I also have the original black Ca. plates so was very excited to find this. I missed a Gustafson hat by a hair right before I found this.
I also am in contact with the dealer that sold my 69 Z and hopeful they might come up with some original paper work and or memorabilia.
I enjoy the hunt!

 I would take the original license frame over a hat any day. (but I know you would have liked to have both)

I was hoping if I started this thread that would have been enough karma for me to find the Edelbrock Chevrolet license frame I am after....

To be honest Vince, those were not on when I ordered and purchased the car. They were added in the later 80's! Here is a picture of me at YorkUS30 in the later 1970's and you can note no bumper guards.
