He did attempt to order the JL8, but it was denied. Also tried ordering the HD clutch.

The cross-ram story is BS, IMO.

They don't know how to read the GMAC invoice. It wasn't discounted - that was what the dealer paid.
And again, the stripes were modified by the dealer.

That seems odd to me as well. It was like somebody wanted proof it came with his car, so he asked the dealer to write up a letter saying it was stolen on the train. I was not around in 69 I didn't know train robberies were so common back then, I thought that all ended back with Jesse James and all.
SO there was a gang of guys reading window stickers that showed special options not bolted to the car,  they knew to be in the trunk, so that they didn't have to check every car?

Actually, when I was growing up back in the 80's.. er..  70's..   well OK.    60's..     I DID hear stories about 4-speed transmissions being lifted from cars on freight trains, but I think a transmission would be a bit easier to thieve from a car on a train car, than an intake manifold.. Ever tried to remove your intake manifold without opening your hood??      Besides WE at CRG know that the factory DID NOT install cross ram manifolds; the dealer sold them OTC, and perhaps even installed them with appropriate warnings about voiding your new car warranty??

No, it was just a huge PITA dragging air-powered pressure pots through the booth and hand-spraying the body; spare circulating systems in each booth didn't get filled with special paint unless the order was for at least 50 cars (it took 100 gallons to fill a circulating system).

When I traveled through Ohio in the 90's I heard stories from the racers about loading down impalas with 4 spds and being chased by the railroad police...

When I worked in the Poconos weekends in the 80's I heard there was a problem with thieves boarding the trains and stealing stuff like stereos form the cars while the train went through along a gorge following the river. Lots of places to get on and off the slow moving freight train, no streets or crossings for a good 15-20 miles, lots of curves. Anything portable and valuable was a target.

Ohhh that exhaust, sounds like glass packs to me. I prefer the transverse muffler sounding exhaust, but to each their own ....

Whoever was driving this car wouldn't be for long if he continually slipped the clutch as badly as he did in the video!

yah, no kidding, it took the guy the first 100 yards just to let the clutch out. He probabley was told not to stomp it by the owner, and so the driver thought I will just keep the rpms real low and give it an extra amount of clutch. Just the opposite of what the car wants, (lots of rpms)

Went to Indy today and saw this car in person. As others have mentioned there are plenty of  things that are not right with it. For example, take a look at the attached photo of the firewall/cowl area. Not only is it a hard line between the colors but ithe black is wrapped up on the cowl as well. PTB stamps look like they were painted on by a kid. I wish someone could explain to me whats driving the price because I dont get it. I get that its a one off color and is heavy optioned but for my 450k (not that I have it lol) think I would much rather of had the 1300 mile 1968 Yenko parked next to it that sold for 320k. That car was absolutely gorgeous.
