WOW this is a heck of a car. Just one repaint and original owner. MANY options.. Surprisingly enough, no RS package ordered... Danny

Not only 'special order paint', which we know was possible, but also:  1) special cross ram manifold FROM THE FACTORY (only one known to have been installed in the factory?)..  but unfortunately was stolen from the car during the rail shipment - confirmed by special letter from the dealership!  :)  2) NOT only special paint color, but also *special paint stripes *...  only one known to be painted this way???  :)     NO pix of the documentation, but a lot of fancy words which makes up for the lack... :)

I'm only surprised it didn't get the special 'one of a kind factory installed' CAUTION fan sticker??

OK OK.  this is all 'tongue in cheek'.. looks around for the right little emoticon... ;) ;D :o   ::)   and then hides behind my  8)

The funky stripes were added at the dealer.
I'm a doubter on the cross-ram. It's not on the order form, nor would Norwood have the parts.
It's not one owner - it's been on ebay 3 times (3 different sellers) in 10 years!

Neat looking car, but I doubt it gets close to the estimate.

I think there is a pic of it in Hoopers book, denoting the special stripes. Besides all the hoopla of cross ram and the train story, why go with a black grill??? It would be nice to see the "original" window sticker showing the cross ram

the ad states "Special Paint (a $33.75 option discounted to 26.71 including tax)"

that is the same price I have seen on other special paint paperwork for just the color change

So that would mean the special stripe work was done for free

that seems strange unless it was a VIP customer or dealer

Here is a quote from their HIGHLIGHTS.....

- Originally ordered with JL8 4-wheel disc brakes, but delivered without due to availability

So that means it is NOT one of the 206 cars built with JL8.

Waste of a 4th gen and 1st gen sheetmetal.

As for the Carolina Blue car in the beginning I have my doubts the car was ever ordered with crossram or JL8..

Maybe they delivered it, but while it was on the train, they stole everything, and left you the sticker !..   :D

Why would the dealer provide a letter telling you your special order intake manifold was stolen off the train.  If it was stolen they would order a new one and hand it to you when you came to get the car.  they wouldn't tell you it was stolen, hell they wouldn't even tell you it was ready for pickup until they had all the parts in hand.

That seems odd to me as well. It was like somebody wanted proof it came with his car, so he asked the dealer to write up a letter saying it was stolen on the train. I was not around in 69 I didn't know train robberies were so common back then, I thought that all ended back with Jesse James and all.
SO there was a gang of guys reading window stickers that showed special options not bolted to the car,  they knew to be in the trunk, so that they didn't have to check every car?

Either way, its a nice looking car. Wonder what was going through the mind of the person who ordered it at the time.

Would it have come with a silver grill?

When a car with a special ordered paint color, such as this blue, did it get any special treatment when going through the paint shop?
