Yup, as stated above, #1 and #2 owner also kept everything they took off the Z. When #1 got in touch with me about 6 years ago, he had JUST gotten rid of the pollution control set up, which had been up in his parent's garage from around May/June 68.He actually apologized ,but his intentions were to buy the car back, so he was being nice.
You can safely deduce : Why would someone keep old tires and a battery while getting rid of a hood
I hate to admit, but shy of the shocks and battery ,the few items missing for this one has been my own fault over the years due to moves, storage when building the house ,parts "intermingling" etc..and how many really gave much thought to keeping old hoses, belts ,plugs etc...at the time I got it, was not even considered a classic. LOL.
IMO this HO 69 should define survivor--beautiful, well cared for, un-molested. No state of disrepair what so ever. I wouldn't even take a hose to the body--hand wash ,Simple green to the engine...period.
Even though my car (and some may gasp ) retained over 90 % of it's original paint ,presented well--- you can argue it should not have been touched ,I thought it needed it, my bar's set high and I own it.
Stunning is that 69,many an article should be written about it.
