No, that Super Chevy article is 12+ years old, and the car remains RHD to this day (don't think he'll ever change it, as this car has a unique documented history). But as all Camaros were LHD from the factory, this one was converted locally upon importation when new; at the time, all cars here had to be RHD, so there was no other option but to pay for the conversion if you wanted a vehicle that wasn't already here, or wasn't made in factory RHD. It was like that to try and protect the domestic car manufacturing industry, like having huge taxes and tariffs on imported cars. Some conversions done back in the 60's and 70's were better than others, and I have seen some hack jobs over the years that I just wouldn't drive over safety concerns, but this car is not one of those.

Re the fender stripes:  I think I recall seeing some original GM Z28 ads which showed the 'over wheel pinstripes'... 
Was that, or was that not, an option?

The fender pinstripes were part of Z21, but the pinstripes were specifically excluded when Z21 was ordered on a Z/28.

Yep...that's the car. Those wheels are sweet and would love a set for my Z. Those would look great with Cortez Silver.

As far as I know, there was no mechanism to let a car order override the programming of the Body Broadcast; when a Z/28 was ordered, it automatically defeated the broadcast code for pinstripes.

Thanks John.   I know you can *Delete* items which are normally included, but didn't know if you could *Include* items that are normally excluded based on the options selected.   

Personally, I really like the over-wheelwell pinstripes..     as it makes the car look like it's moving when its' sitting still.  Were those pinstripes a 'decal' (ie tape?), or painted on?

Actually, no. The pinstripers are just a fixture that moves up/down as the car goes by and applies the stripes. I imagine the setup of the rollers was fun, but simple in action.

Here's a photo of a similar pinstripe fixture in use in 1965 at the Pontiac home plant - it has suction cups to hold it in position, and the top rail is the guide for the tip of the Beugler roller-striper. Two different Beugler guns were used - one with a thin roller, and one with a thicker roller for the second stripe. The Pontiac fixture is being used in an off-line stall, but the Camaro pinstripe fixtures were on-line, suspended from overhead balancers, and moved with the car.

I recall that with newer vehicles, the process is automated, hence the fixturing is different. I didn't realize it was done by hand in 69. Thanks for posting the pic!

It's an early-built car, from memory September of '68, and there is a thread on this forum somewhere that showed (with photos) a number of early cars had the same rear stripe layout as the previous years did, and also that the stripes stopped further back from the rear window trim than later cars did. I'll see if I can find that thread and post the URL.
