Officially title transferred in 89 ,been wrenching ,washing and waxing since 76. Learned how to "no lift" shift in it at 14. The 302 was ok , well balanced machine ,the 406 was a parts killer. Actually only weak links were the M21 and GM ring and pinion. The pressure plate was a Centerforce (when they first came out). It went at the track and they mailed me another on exchange. Lakewood bellhousing covered everything up. Went auto and never looked back. Axles and drive shaft never twisted. This with foot braking and pulling the front wheels up about an inch off pavement. No drive line slop. Mind you I wasn't chasing points every weekend--just a few Wednesday night trophy class runs and any big Chevy events at Norwalk. I cannot confirm nor deny any ....street racing that may or may not have taken place back then.
