I would leave it as is for awhile, but I know the paint bug would get me and I would have to paint it. Especially if the panels are all good.

The sad thing I saw was the title cost $2 back then.  Now its $77.  Maybe the Wall Street protesters should protest the government's insane  "profits".

Government doesn't care, and there is not enough of the public that is actually engaged in politics to stand up and make a difference. IMO the general public, pays very little attention to politics until a presidential race, and even then they are only listening to a 30 second commercial and who looks likable to make their decision.

Sorry, this always strikes a nerve with me. In my short life span I have seen people get dumbed down by TV, and told what to think by its news anchors and talk show hosts.The media is a huge blob of influence now. John Q public just wants his sports, or tv show, un-interrupted. If they can get paid (unemployment, food stamps) to stay at home they will continue to vote for the party that helps them do this.
The honest days work, the pride of making it on your own has turned into "you didn't build that". I guess thats why the vehicle hobby is so great, it is a instant source of pride, each vehicle represents an effort by the owner, a extension of them and a source of pride. There is a sense of pride and freedom in turning wrenches for me.
I wish the rest of the country would find themselves, and get back to being the best workers in the world. Tune out the media and get involved with turning this country around politically.

Very well put.     OP: Lots of potential. Seems like a solid project. Hard to tell from pictures, but worth a look. I'd probably leave as is/preserve and maybe put the vinyl top back on.

If you, as a 'thirty something' feel this way, just imagine how it feels to those of us who are twice your age.  We've been watching taht 'dumbing down of the public, and over-governing of our so-called leaders, for twice as long...     If you've ever worked for a 'micro manager', just extrapolate that feeling up by '300 Million' or so (our population) and that's what happening to our society/citizenry.

Instead of hijacking a thread to voice your political OPINIONS, try limiting your input to information relating to cars. As for the $2 vs $77 registration increase, that increase is over 45 years and in the same 45 years GM has increased the price of a new Z/28 from around $4,000 to a whopping $75,000. Another government plot? Think not. Oh and GM would be out of business today if not for a bail out instituted your elected politicians.
