When I bought the car in July 1990 it had that tilt lever. If it is incorrect it was changed before then. The car came originally with the tilt steering per the Dec. 68 picture form original owner.

Maybe different due to the deluxe interior? Does the plastic end match the signal lever? I'm not questioning the originality just curious. Someone out there must know or think they do. BTW Nice Car/Color Combo.

Any idea what the tilt column release lever is from? Looks like Pontiac but the plastic is fluted. I thought Pontiac had smooth plastic.  

The turn signal and tilt have the same knob. That goes for standard interior and deluxe. The example below has deluxe interior. The tilt lever is easily replaced...

Cam69 do you happen to know what the difference between Jerry certifying a car, and what I call verifying the numbers for a buyer. Buyer paying Jerry to make sure the car is numbers matching as the seller claims.

i had Jerry certify the car. i knew going into it it was a correct and original z28. everything is date coded within a few weeks and is numbers matching. so i guess i do know the difference. the seller had no documentation when i bought the car. after getting Jerry`s book and seeing myself that everything was correct on it, meaning all the major components etc. was what the goal was. so having Jerry document it helped because not everybody gets all the paperwork and POP`s.

Yeah I used his book plus I had some Docs, but the buyer wanted Jerry to come out west and ( lack of a better word) verify the car. Jerry took lots of pictures of the engine,trans,rearead, and looked the car over. He then told me he would recommend the buyer purchase the car. Even through it must have cost the buyer 2 k to have Jerry come out, I guess it was cheap insurance for the price he was paying me for the car.

yes, i agree. like i said i knew (well i thought i knew) it was real and legit i still had doubt without that valuable paperwork. Jerry certified another z28 the same time he came to look at mine so we got a better price on it. the car is a true 10-10 black car as well,what a coincidence that was. but i do need to look into the title history search because the original owner might have some paperwork still.

Back in the early 90's I did a title search in Oregon,got the original owner plus his docs on the car. Now days unless you know someone in the DMV very hard to get in most states. Privcy laws I think. But having Jerry's paper work you should be golden.

yeah im thinking the same thing but still going to try. if not the guy i bought it from goes to a lot of car shows and i could see if he remembers who he bought it from. he got it from the original ownerand his older brother knew the guy, so hopefully something will pan out. would be cool to at least get some pictures of it new.
