6 speed swap, tremec TR6060
« on: December 19, 2013, 08:33:21 PM »
I was wondering if any of you have done a modern trans swap on a camaro..

We are in the process of swapping a LSA (cts-v motor) and TR6060 into a nova II for a friend, its a complete pull out with ecu and gas pedal,  anyway i was looking up the ratios of these trans and on tremec web page they have a few sets listed..  one of them is very close to the M22 close ratio trans, but of course you get the two over drive gears.

This got me thinking i would love to have that in the camaro,  then i can regear the rear end and still be highway friendly.  In my vette i have the close ratio with 4:56 gears and love it,  Unless i need to go on the free way lol..

Tremec show one of the options as "C"    1st,   2.29  2nd, 1.61, 3ed 1.21,  4th 1.00 5th, .078 6th, .067,

The M22 close ratio like i have in the vette,  1st, 2.20  2nd 1.64  3ed 1.28   4th 1.00

Im assuming ill need a cross memeber,  ( mainly becuse the nova will need one)  then maybe a hydrolic conversion,  a clutch pedal assembly and of course a clutch and shifter...

angry,   it can be done,  but i talked to tremec and they said the Maginisum T-56 is a easier swap.

With that said,  the 6060 is still going in the nova II at some point..   the shop just been coverevd up with other cars.

I do know by looking that a 6060 will have to have a custom bracket to hold it,  and maybe a custom shifter...

I got a feeling that the transmission tunnel needs to raised by about an inch n a half or two inches.
Also concerned thst the shifter may be too far back.
Does anyone know the answers to these  questions.
