Original Oil Fill Cap - 1967 327 (standard engine ventilation system)

What is the "correct" oil fill/breather cap for a 1967 L30 327/275hp with the standard engine ventilation system as shown in the 1967 Assembly Manual in UPC 6, sheet C5?  Also, I see that some restoration parts houses list a decal for the cap.  Was the decal an assembly line thing or is it an aftermarket/restoration thing?

I'd like the answer to this question also. My '67 L30/M20 currently has the "can" style breather cap with the mesh inside. However, while cleaning a few things in the engine bay - I discovered what looks like the orig. cap wedged down in the fender well (bet that was a frustrating oil change afternoon back in the day - I think we've all dropped something and had it "disappear"!) Anyway, its showing its age and no sticker - but does have what looks like a number "5" or a stylized "S" in the center. Can't see any part number.

  I believe the cap you show in your post is for the "closed" pcv system  (RPO K24 shown in the AIM @ K24, sheet A2, page 267), that system has the pcv valve threaded into the  oil fill stand pipe, while the "open" system (shown in the AIM @ UPC L30, sheet A3, page 279, used the cap with the mesh in it. I personally spent a lot of time researching this very issue, and viewed some survivors before making my decision as to which cap was correct. Hope this helps to clear up these questions. JMO

The "S" on the cap rivet is for the Stant Manufacturing Co., who supplied the sealed oil fill caps.

Yes, the cap shown by 1967RS-NH is for the RPO K-24 system.  The cap I'm referring to would be a breather and have mesh, but I am unsure what it is supposed to look like as there are many out there claiming to be correct.  Does anyone know what is assembly line correct for the oil fill/breather cap on a 1967 327 with standard engine ventilation? The assembly manual doesn't show enough detail to determine what the cap should look like.

  I have pics of two original caps (one from a '66 production vehicle, and one from a '67 production - with indents in top of the cap) that came off of '67's with the open pcv system, and I will send them to your posted email asap - hope they help. GW
