396/427 engines did not need a different coil bracket for the ZL2 hood.

Last I read anything on the bracket was it wasn't correct, but some owners with late built cars have it. I have one of each and not sure which is correct until this is confirmed right or wrong. This is all based on the Z28 with ZL2 set up, but I think it would be the same for all that had the same air cleaner pan.

All you have to do is read the assembly manual.

It lists 1115270 coil assembly for RPO L48 & Z28-no mention of BB because the production coil & bracket on a BB did not interfere with the ZL2 air cleaner.

The 302/350 ZL2 coil bracket is the same one used on '66-'67 275/327.

This I under stand ,but what is the visible difference between the 2 brackets. does anyone have pics of them side by side ? Being there are no numbers on them.

The bracket for the 302/350 ZL2 application positions the coil at a greater angle from vertical, moving it away from the air cleaner. The difference is slight; maybe 10º.

The ZL2 air cleaner pan is larger than the standard air cleaner....

Hey Gary, I meant that the small and big block got the same coil bracket, not the coil bracket was the same for the different air cleaners. I think we're still hashing out whether or not the brackets had the notch in them right? Or has it been confirmed that the brackets came both ways?

Anybody have any idea which one is correct? I have one with the notch and one without and both are the same angle as described in 'painterdude's reply. Does it depend on date installed? Just one of those little things I need to correct on my Z.

I wonder if it was just a vendor thing.I know that there were 3 different rear bumper ends for a 57 chevy . They varied slightly cosmeticly but hard to notice.

The three '57 Chevy Bumper ends were 1) the production bumper end, 2) Service part #1, and 3) Service Part #3.   The service parts were incrementally more simple to make and thus less expensive to mfg as time went on.  by FAR the one preferred by restorers is the production bumper end, with the raised area on top, and the segmented 'black' below the backup light housing.
