Early vin #

Does anybody out there have knowledge of the earlyist 67 vin #`s still surviving? I have a 67 vin# 1237L100016 this looks like to me it is the 16th Camaro ever built, if LA started production before Norwood. Cowl tag info is Body number 001, buiold date is 4th week of august 66. Any info is appriciated.

did you just buy it on ebay I saw one on there cant remember exact number it was either 14 or 16 just curious

Ya I got on ebay up in Utah also bought another one that is a very early production 67 vey little rust on either one.

NOR was the lead plant and started production several weeks before LA.
That is the earliest LA car that CRG has seen. The POP for 7L100013 was just on ebay, but the car status is unknown.

Don't see many of the early cars. Congrats!

I noted that car was selling on ebay on 8/25/03 and it was in rough shape.  I had kept all the info because it was such a low numbered car.  It was 100016 VIN, body 1 and P001. 

Are you the one who was selling it in 2003?

No i just bought it and its a good straight body very little rust easy to fix, I have two of my guys sanding it right now it will be primered today.

Pretty cool to get that early of a car, be curios to see any lower numbers, did chevy keep number one or was that sold like any other camaro. Just curious

My 2005 Cadillac CTS LS 3.6L VVT is an early production car for the 2005 model year,  built in May of 2004. Last 6 digits of VIN are 100648.

The first few thousand cars are the guinea pigs, they were getting up to speed on building them and I am sure (as evidenced by my car) that the made many mistakes or found defective parts in the first few weeks of production.  Before my car hit 3,000 miles they had replaced the catalytic converters (2 on car), o2 sensors, battery and rear G80 differential assembly (Getrag).  The differential took weeks to get and had to come from the warehouse in Lansing servicing the assembly plant.

That isn't how it's supposed to be. How many years has GM been building cars???
Buy the first Honda off the line, it won't have issues. Quality is often higher then the prior model. Not saying which is the better car, but who has their act together.

Why are people going off on a tangent, After 1973 all american cars turned to garbage, Honda has always made garbage, a front wheel drive car is not a real car but simply a scrap pile of tin waiting to be recycled as soon as the running gear goes bad. And then these lousy manufacturers turn this garbage out and make funny little stories about why front wheel drives are being made. The only reason front wheel drive cars are made is it is cheaper to make one that way and it leaves a bigger profit margine  for the auto manufacturer

Have to disagree about Honda junk, my 91 Accord is still running strong at about 220,000 miles(oversize tires underdriving odometer by about 10% and 200,000 on the odo). Maintenance has been extremely rare. 3rd set of brakes, 3rd set of tires, lots of lof's not a lot more than that.

Any beat up slant six dodge would crank out 400 thousand miles with almost no maintenance. So go peddle it somewhere else. No foreign garbage would handle even half the abuse I have put worn out American cars thru. Lock Hondas brakes up at 60 going downhill and put into first gear and pop clutch and see what happens. If auto get going about 35 or 40 and put into reverse. See how many times you can do before breaking. I have taken many a two hundred dollar ford or chevy getting ready to die and have tried to kill them on the road. Hard to do. You can heat up a slant six till manifolds are glowing pink let cool down and do again. Usually get bored with trying to kill car before car dies And Why would any self respecting american buy foriegn garbage, You must be a Democrat

Assuming someone is a Democrat is not a political comment, and people talking up foriegn trash on a site like this should darn well expect a little negative reaction. If someone wants to expound on the virtues of a Honda they should go to a web site that caters to that kind of person. I for one believe in buying American product. I live in America. And if that is considered negativity then I guess You could call it negativity. Patriotic seems to be more of word I would use to describe it. But I guess that just isn't a politically correct word nowadays
