1969 Z 28 pictures looking for input
« on: July 16, 2013, 04:37:12 PM »
Here are a series of pictures from the Camaro nationals.  This is what I lost points on.  Any input is always helpful.  Looking for the correct parts if anyone can help.

Thanks

These first four are spoiler hardware

Battery cable clip to alternator

Heater hose bracket to alternator

Fan shroud bolt

Horn relay

Carb spring

Hard to tell from the photos of the spoiler nuts, but they should have an integrated washer. The pic looks like a shouldered nut. My alternator Brkt clip faces the other way, but I don't think you would lose points for that. Your negative cable attaches to the thermostat housing correct? Your horn relay should be 1/4 counterclockwise so you can read DELCO REMY from the top. I don't know what's wrong with the heater hose Brkt or fan shroud bolt.

my nuts look like they have a bigger washer, and the studs on my spoiler are different.

Should the fan shroud bolt have a larger washer and/or a smaller hex head?

well gentlemen at the legends judging i am told that the heater hose bracket is suppose to be silver, the battery clip in wrong, the studs are fine but the hardware is wrong on the spoiler, the horn relay is wrong, and as for the shroud bolt that was wrong too!  This comes from the two guys that judged this car, Jerry M. and Larry C.  I am very curious on the silver color the heater hose bracket should be?

I am only a year into studying camaros and 10 mos into owning this one, but I have alot of time on my hands and have done a ton of research.  I just cant seem to get it right lol.

This is a 04D LA car.  There are alot of other things but in do time.  This car scored 91.3% of the 5000 point legends show.

, my sister's car has a black heater hose bracket too, and so does my cousins.....
I've never seen a silver heater hose bracket.

The photo details of your horn relay aren't great however from what I can see it appears the case is bright zinc or even polished. I can't see if it has the correct stamping however here is what it should look like.

Call me crazy but I would have to say somebody screwed up on the heater hose bracket. I've been pulling wrenches since buck was calf and I ain't never seen a silver one.

Was just looking thru Jerry M's 2nd edition book on the heater bracket and there are some examples on page 13 and 91 that show brackets that are pretty dark in color. Don't look silver to me. Further in towards the big block section there is one pic where the bracket actually looks as black as the alternator bracket.

What did the judges tell you about the spring?  Here is a link to a post in the General section showing the carb spring....look at reply #4 and reply #6.
