Sorry for creating such a fuss and then going AWOL. Family and work commitments prevented me from going, I knew something would come up. I was also ill prepared and didn't get a chance to really hash the trip out step by step. I had a chance to make it happen but realized trying to pull it off 2 days before the event would only leave me high and dry--many miles away from home. Bad idea.

Thank you very much for the photos and coverage. Really appreciated! I really know what to expect at future HTA events now, though. Maybe I'll make Sonoma next year.

Sorry that you didn't make it. It's a great event and at least now you have some idea of what to expect.

I think it's time I signed up for the Bondurant Driving School - might learn something and get my hands on one of those nice machines.

Steve Saleen is coming out with a trio of pony cars that he is calling a Heritage Collection lineup. He will be doing a
Mark Donohue (misspelled Donahue on his fancy backdrop) edition Camaro, a Swede Savage Barracuda and a George
Follmer Mustang. Only the Mustang was on display over the Monterey weekend with Steve showing it off personally.

I like the new Z28 with the air splitter and the new grille looks meaner. Is it true that you can order one (Z28) without air conditioning, sound deadeners, and radio?
That diet should shave 1000-1500# off that behemoth.

Why did they saddle the new vette with the 2010 Camaro taillights?

I really liked the taillights on the 2010-2013 Camaros as well as the larger grille opening. I don't particularly care for the
taillights on the new Corvette. I understand wanting to take some risks with the styling. In general the new Corvette is
very nice but I think the taillights will end up as being the least desirable styling element of the car and will be changed
before the next redesign of the car. The new Z/28 has all the right stuff on it and is quite a performer. I'm glad the mail
slot is gone. I don't care for the looks of the vent in the hood. Something needs to be redone there. To me it looks
cheesy, not cool. You can get the car sans radio and a/c to my understanding but the weight loss was nowhere close
to 1000lbs. Maybe 300lbs.

Per an April 2013 report....
"In total, the Z/28 weighs 300 lbs. less than the mighty ZL1, or about 3,820 lbs.
This puts it at 40 lbs. lighter than a Camaro SS with a manual transmission
and 200 lbs. heavier than the recently (and sadly) discontinued Ford Mustang Boss 302,,:
