69' Z/28 Crossram JL8 on eBay.. Real JL8 Car?
« on: December 26, 2012, 05:20:58 AM »
Do we know of this cortez silver Z/28 on eBay? Is it in the DB as a real factory JL8 car? It sure is beautiful. Very nice job on the pictures and presentation. Just curious what we know about it. Cowl tag looks to be a little over sanded... Real Tag?... Danny

4x U-bolts holding the axle to the anchor plates.. Resto oversight?
Shouldn't it be 2x U-bolts and 4x T-bolts according to illustrations in JL8-A2.

I'ts my understanding that the crossrams were never installed at the factory, but were available over the counter, so there is no such animal as a factory crossram car. Unless there is a receipt accomapanying the car showing it was purchased at the same time as the car or a work order showing the dealership installed it, I'd say it is a marketing ploy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You would think for 145K it wqould have a functional cowl induction hood (not that ot works with a crossram unless you have the correct hood) proper rear stripes and less repro hardware.  Its nice looking for sure, but I think it will be a no sale in the 6 figure range.

The ad says " complete brand new JL8 4 wheel disk brake setup". That would tell me it is a made up setup, also non orig engine and a million other things wrong. The worst part is the lip at bottom of 1/4 panels and tail panel lip. They were too lazy to do the body work so they covered it in black paint.

Nice LH fender/header misalignment and fender droop. Missing hood side bumpers, possible hood elevation problems.

It makes a feller scratch his head when you can plainly see somebody spent a ton of money on this car and yet just threw it together. So any things wrong but it is a fairly nice car.

The fender emblems look to be a little off too. Not too much attention to detail.

The car was for sale at least 6 years ago on ebay, and back then it did not have a cross ram or J-l8 option. Obviously there must be a problem with this car if they are using pictures that are over 6 years old. Obviously they have made upgrades to the car since it was for sale previously. It was for sale by dealer back then as well. I have sen this car for sale at least a half dozen times.

So many things wrong with the car, no shift pattern on the shifter ball, bright trim on the pedals, has repop door panels, front grill emblem in the wrong place, head rests have stitching, wrong bolts holding down firewall wire gutter, looks like after market inner fenders, gap on passenger side rear quarter panel to lower valence is huge, repop gas tank straps, lower rockers should be painted black and the list goes on...

Did they use I instead of 1 in the VIN? Looks like 124379N599I07.

Apparently yes.. Most engine VINs used an "I"

The character for "1" on the VIN plate didn't have the little angled flag on top, or a foot on the bottom like the "1" character used on the cowl tag; the one in the photo above is correct.
