Replacement door latches
« on: October 13, 2012, 02:37:08 PM »
The door latches on my 69 cleaned up nice but do show some wear in the striker contact area. Does anyone rebuild the latches, or what has been your experience with reproduction latches? George.

Is the wear unappealing but the latches functioning properly? Used GM latches in good condition are pretty easy to find. Ask at Team Camaro for repro latch quality.

Sauron327 thanks for the idea & reply. The door hinge was worn causing the door to hang down and really wore the latch. The new latches don't have the L & Rt stamping that is normally visible on OE latches. That's why I was hoping to repair mine. I have checked into a couple of used ones just haven't a nice pair.
If anybody has a good used pair I am interested.George

OER latches are OK but mine needed some heavy-handed modification to work properly. The cams and ratchet within were/are misaligned.
Typical OER..  ::)
