69 camaro repo fuel tanks
« on: October 10, 2012, 12:51:52 AM »
Gentlemen,
I have asked around a bit and gather that the "SPECTRA" tank is a good quality manufacturer of replacement tanks.
I have also heard "AMERICAN RESTORATIONS" makes a nice one as well.
Please post if you have purchased and installed the American Restorations tank and let us know what you think of the quality.

Thanks
Dean

There was a discussion about these in the past 6 months. I remember Steve (paceme) explained who made what. Do an advanced search.

Here is a post from about a year ago, when I was asking about Stainless steel verses Galv. The thread was shifted to mostly wanting date stamps.
I have decided to go with the galv. tank.
What I need to know now is about the quality of the "AMERICAN RESTORATIONS" tank. I see no mention of these guys in past posts. Did they used to be named Quantra??
Surely someone has bought these. NPD says they have sold hundreds with no problems about fit etc. So they say....

Thanks in advance for your input!
Dean

Spectra and Quanta are Ni-Terne treated, not galvanized.

Not sure of which brand but some the filler neck is too high. Mine is like that and I have seen several others at shows. They are serviceable but the filler is not centered.

Exactly what I was needing to know! What brand of tank is yours and where, when did you purchase?
Thanks again!

Both my new regular and locking Stant fuel caps are loose on my OER tank.
With OER's reputation (at least with my resto), I believe it's the tank at fault and not the caps.
Stant stuff I found is very good.
