reputable machine shop in CT

I've been a member here for years but haven't posted in a long time. Now I'm getting my hands back into the Camaro and am happy to see that Camaro.org still lives because I have a question that you guys may be able to help me with. Is anyone willing to recommend a full auto machine shop in Connecticut? I'm thinking about completely rebuilding the 327 engine that is in the care now or the original number matching L6 that I have on the engine stand but something needs to be done, the old 327 is dead tired. I live in between New Haven and Hartford area.

If you are willing to drive a little bit... I was a submariner for years in the Groton area.  There is still a shop there that is hailed as the 'old school' guys dealing in exactly what you want with an incredible reputation closing 30 yrs.  They are L&L Machine Shop. 860-445-8075, 475 Gold Star Highway (Rt 184), Groton, CT.

Rt 184 is Exit 86 off of I95N, just a couple of miles straight off of the freeway.  I never did any work with them myself, but my mechanic, another small time guy of over 30yrs (who had a '67 big block Camaro) HIGHLY recommends this guy.

Thanks for the tip. I'm in Cheshire and that's just over an hour drive which is doable but I hope not to have to drive that far. I'm pretty close to Waterbury and New Haven which should turn something up. I just love a good word-of-mouth recommendation like yours and L&L goes is on the list.

I also turned up a place called Carlquist Competition Engines which is nearby. Is anyone familiar with them?

Just got this from a personal friend that is from there and still lives there, another '60s/'70s muscle car guy of many years.  He said, he really trusts these guys too.

Thanks to you all for the replies and I welcome more. Right now Carlquist is looking good being only about a 20 minute ride from home. The others mentioned are all an hour or more.

Precision Automotive in Simsbury rebuilt my L30 327 back in the mid 80's.  They also rebuilt a little 4-cyl for one of my Land Rovers in the mid 90's.  They do nice work.

However, I will caution you to stay away from a circle racers shop in the Bristol area..He has a great rep but I can't see how after how he did me.... years ago I brought them a BB to clean, and inspect ...they stole all my hardware from my BB heads and claimed it was NG but every machine shop I ever used will give you those parts back....in this case the crooks kept the rockers, all the valves, the valve springs, etc... and I know for a fact they were not bad..... plus they messed with my blocks deck pad... I paid him for the insults just to get out of there and never return ... but I still owe those BOB heads a !@#$%@$$%XX@@###!!! 

I hate to say anything bad about someone but in this case I have been quite for too long... and if it saves another car guy from being wronged...
