Hello All, I am new to this site and and impressed by all the Camaro knowledge here.
I own this 1969 Camaro I have assumed it is a true Z/28, but please let me know if it looks correct.
Unfortunately the engine is gone but the body is excellent condition so am looking for its original DZ 302, I check the orphan link of the forum regularly to see if the engine shows up but after 53 years one can only hope.

Nothing wrong with watching for the original engine, wouldn't dwell on it. It is an unrealistic expectation. V0210-213DZ will work.

I totally agree with William's post...  What we do here, chasing the knowledge of 'what is original' - is a hobby in and of itself, but it doesn't mean you should not enjoy your car the way it is, or with the improvements/changes you can afford to do and can handle yourself.   The more you work on your car yourself, and DRIVE IT, the more enjoyment you will get from it...

you are 189 vin's after me. William is right on with motor assy. date. My motor was lost in the 80's in baltimore. I always keep a close watch for any dz motors that surface  there. I was able to fins a 0213DZ dated block without a vin about 20 years ago and that is whats in mine . There is a survivor car in Jerrys book that is 30 vins before my car and its is also 0213 DZ. Hello All, Thank you for your incite and I agree with it. I reached out as for years I have used the CRG as the bible. I wanted everyone to see my information for just this, to let everyone know there is another 1969 Z/28 survivor. I enjoy working on the car and am thrilled when I find something new on this site that I never knew before and run out to the garage to see if it still exists on my car. Just the other day saw the discussion about gas tank code dating, never knew that….Went out and checked it and found my car still has the original gas tank, it’s marked 2 5 69
As for locating the original DZ I know it was lost back in the early 1970’s but it’s not sitting at home here without an engine. Whoever had it back then install a period correct 1969 427, 840 rectangular heads, L88 solid lifter cam, Weiand 7505 dual plane intake and a Holley 850 Double pumper. It is a blast to drive around and when you give it the gas she comes to life. I enjoy having people stop me and complements me on the car. I open the cowl induction hood that says 302 on it, and they are surprised to see a COPO 427/425 HP rat motor. But still would at least like to have the 302 so in the future someone might want to put it back to stock!

I have a friend who owns a 1969 Z28 and when he takes it to our local Cars & Coffee show, he displays the original dealer's invoice and other documentation as he got tired of being asked if it was an real Z28 or not.  I must say that even in Southern California, it is rare to see a first generation Z28 or any Camaro.

The owner of Heartbeat City came across an astounding inventory of 69 Z's and a boat load of DZ blocks - It certainly wouldn't hurt to give him a call to find out if it one of those blocks  happens to belong to your car.

x55cam, thanks much for the link to the video. I have seen this and was in awe of all the cars and parts this gentlemen collected over the years. The part in the video of the guys up on the ladder removing the plastic sheet to uncover all those individually wrapped DZ blocks, one guy read out loud one of the tags and I think I heard something about partial VIN #
I use Heartbeat City a lot for parts when needed, prices on there non-NOS parts is good and they have fast shipping. I am impressed with there collection of NOS parts, but they are very expensive.
I hoping the owner of Heartbeat City after taking inventory of all there new NOS parts that they will reach out to CRG with a list if there DZ blocks with pertinent information. In my option CRG is the best place with the right people to advertise these blocks and maybe reconnect a few orphans with the original DZ motors.

Welcome Riker I too visited the CRG often before joining. It is a wealth of information. My 69 SS396 does not have the original block either. Maybe one day I will find it but I don’t sweat it either. I got a big block to drop in it when I get it going. Welcome aboard
