Missing Engine VIN...
« on: May 01, 2012, 12:55:48 AM »
Hey guys, new to the forum, looking at a '69 Camaro RS that apparently has the original LM1 and T-350. Seems to be very early Los Angeles car. 09A on the cowl tag,VIN 501112.The engine was rebuilt, not decked, the engine code is there, V0823HS but the VIN isnt there, didnt see it near the oil filter but the block has been painted.Casting date on block is H 20 8, seems right. Tranny also doesnt have VIN stamping but has H 23 8 casting numbers......any thoughts ? Hate to plunk down a big wad of cash without VIN numbers......

That date looks good for the car. VIN not on the pad isn't too surprising - LOS VIN stamps moved around.
It should be on the trans somewhere.
12 bolt? What color is the car?

Hate to ask, but how much when you say 'a big wad of cash'?

Thanks for the response, Kurt. Original hugger orange car, absolutely rust free, no evidence of any repairs at all, 12 bolt, 5 leaf springs, power disc brakes with the proportioning valve, factory air, tinted glass, power steering,Rally wheels, Firestone Wide Ovals, the guy added a vinyl roof and spoilers, cars about 80% done, paint, engine and tranny rebuilt....everything done so far is really nice....says he has about 25K into the car and thats about what he wants.....

I haven't followed prices in this market, but the basic question is what's it worth finished?
