1969 console gauges / clock and more Questions
« on: May 28, 2012, 07:49:50 PM »
Ok so what I have found says you recieved the clock in the dash as part of the console gauge package correct u17 ? Also how much time from assembly date on the engine to build date of the car? (The only real way to tell is by vin on the bell housing flange) lastly for a Z/28 to be a RS as well could only be an X33? Thanks Rob

Yes U17 included a clock. You will see plenty of '69s with gauges but no clock; it indicates the gauges were retrofitted.

With all of the engines available for '69 there is no time span that can be reliably applied to all. For example a bud had an 06A L78 Camaro with a late April engine. 06A Z/28s typically have much later engine dates.

A Z/28-RS built at Norwood when X codes entered production would be X33. However X33 does not indicate RS; only style trim on a Z/28. Van Nuys built Camaros do not use X codes.
