Trunk Mat repair?

My '69 has the original trunk mat, but it has tears and cuts.  Is there available any product to repair the mat which could 'weld' the rubber back together, from the bottom side?  I think I've seen a 'rubber weld' product, but I can't recall where or what.  Has anyone tried this and had any success?   

I don't expect it to look like a *new* one, but I'd really like to retain this original mat if at all possible...

 will be greatly appreciated..!

Go to the camping section of your favorite discount store and look for a rubber (vinyl, etc.) repair kit. The kit has patches and a bonding glue. I've never tried it on a trunk mat, but our scout troop has mended tents, etc. with them.
Another thought is making a patch with Shoe Goo.

Following up to my original post.   

Last weekend I did the *repair* on the tears/splits in my original trunk mat.   I bought some 'trimbrite' tread tape (adhesive backed).   It appeared to be black and thin, so I tried it.   This is the stuff used to put on stairs treads.   It comes in 2" wide rolls, about 20 ft long, and can be cut with scissors.    I flipped my mat overonit's front exposing the back, cleaned the areas when I needed to reinforce (along the tears/splits) with acetone.  Then I used some Dex something or the other (rubber cement) and spread just along the tear.  Then applied the wide tread 'tape'.   I let it sit for a day or so on a flt floor, and now it is in my trunk, and appears to be holding the tears together.  (keeping my fingers crossed).  No, it doesn't look 'new', but it does look *original'...
