Paint manuracture suggestions

Hi,

  I posted this question in the old forum just before it ran in to problems.  I did get one response to the following question:

  I am in the process of getting my car painted, the original color was British Green (ZZ).  I am looking for recomendations for paint maufactures i.e. DuPont, Glasruit, House Of Color, etc. which matches the original color as close as possible if not exactly.  A paint code/part number and manufacturer would surely help me in this search.

The one response I did get on the old forum suggested Glasruit.  When I went to thier site however, I did not find any listing for British Green and they suggested that I contact a "Local representitive".

Please help if you can, and thanks for your answers in advance!

If no one answers, here's something to think about. Usually you can buy 1/2 a pint of paint to check the color match if the manufacturer has a mixing formula.   If you have an original color sample,  a lot of PBE's also carry equipment to scan in the original color and produce a formula for you. Be sure you get a sample of the paint in the type (B/C, enamel , Acrylic enamel) that you will be using.  There can be color variations from one paint type to another, even though they are produced by the same manufacturer.

P.S.
Their site probably said to contact the nearest dealer because it is a mix only color, not a factory pac.

        If you have access to a SIKKENS OR LESONAL dealer in your area they will be able to mix you the color . I use these products in my shop. There color documentation is awsome!! You should be pretty much spot on with this color. If they can not do it for you then give me a call  708-430-4411 ask for Mario. I'll be gone from 11/2/ 05 11/5/05. I'll be happy to help you

Thanks for replying, guys I appreciate the input.

I will get in touch with both paint manufacturers to get some small quantities to shoot some test panels.  I imagine that the quality/color of paint will be impacted because the shop that I intend to use is a very low VOC, restricted shop.  Any one wish to comment on low VOC paint?

Don't know what state you're in, but the EPA modified the provisions of the Clean Air Act about seven years ago to specifically exclude VOC emissions reporting requirements for paint used in restoration/refinishing of "historic or collector vehicles".
