Hey guys, I have a 69 camaro it is just a plain jane LA built with AC car. The question is it has a 388 cast engine in it I have had this car for over18 years now and just had the engine rebuilt and realized the casting number. I never really paid any attention to it for I knew it was the original motor.Does anyone know anything about these blocks Some of the info from Colvins doesn't match up with what I got. First it's only a 2 bolt main cast date is B 22 9 front stamp is 19L527309 T0301HD Vin matches my car along with date car is third week of March build Sounds like these blocks were 4 bolts How rare are these blocks? Anyone know anything about them. How many were built? Thanks in advance, Scott

According to the chart in my old "How to Rebuild Your Small Block Chevy", the 388 block is a 350, used from '68 to '76, passenger cars, and were 2 bolt mains. I wouldn't think they are rare but I'm no expert.

Your suffix if HD = 1969 350/250 hp with turbo 350 trans, 2 bolt mains. I beleive that block was also used for other small block sizes and could receive 4 bolt mains if it was a higher hp model.

The 388 block is relatively common in this timeframe. It was used in both 2 and 4 bolt versions.
