1969 Camaro (POSSIBLE BALDWIN MOTION 427 4 SPEED)
« on: November 27, 2011, 01:19:17 PM »
Just came across this Camaro for sale on E-Bay. Might be a Baldwin Motion car, I'm guessing at some point you could have purchased most of these items over the counter and that would make authenticating this vehicle impossible, or is there someone out there that could still authenticate the car as the real deal...

Joel Rosen "Mr Motion" has a service where he will research a car to see if it was one he built.
NICB report is a good place to start.

This car has been for sale a few times over the years and has been researched and no Motion connection was found

Not sure if this means anything but all '69 Motion cars I've seen on-line have the D90 stripe. All 2ND Gen Motion Camaro's I've seen have the Yenko-like stripe this white '69 has. Check out the two 2nd Gen's in this article, and the '69 at the bottom...http://www.motionperformance.com/motion.html. This is typical of what's out there.

...Here is some info and comments about the car; http://www.barnfinds.com/mystery-1969-baldwin-motion-camaro

Looks like a Factory Big Block car. What is that piece next to the distributor?

i looked at this car 4 years ago. the owner neglects to tell you that the trim tag is removed from the firewall. it has serious rot issues and looked like it hadnt run in thirty years. i spoke to joel, and he didnt remember ever putting that stripe on a 69. the bidding has already passed what i would say it is worth.

For reference, 124379N567840.
Is the trim tag still with the car?

Old coil of some type? I see the box on the inner fender.

Per IZRSSS,  that was not the usual stripe they put on a '69 Motion Camaro.  The stripe they used in '69 just went straight around the tail of the car, and a single wide stripe over the top.  Also, '69 Motion Camaros that I have seen had the Trans Am style rear spoiler.

Motion cars were built to customer order so they could have had no spoiler, stock spoiler or a custom made Motion designed 3 post spoiler.
I have a NOS Motion 3 post spoiler and it is a very large unique spoiler.

looking at the pictures, I notice a few other things beside the stripe not being a normal Motion design for 1969
those Motion valve covers and emblems were not used in 1969 although some Motion owners added them later.
The steering wheel I normally see is the Grant wood wheel with holes not slots like that one, and I have not seen those traction bars on a Motion car or Motion catolog, the intake does not look like the one Motion used in 1969, I normally see the Edelbrock C427.

of course all that could have been changed over the years but it does not look like a 40 yr old barn find of an original Motion car.
I remember seeing Motion clones in the 1980s so there can be some old clones that may look like this
