rear diff build
« on: July 09, 2011, 07:57:36 PM »
I am putting a 3.55 ring gear and pinion in my 8.25 ten bolt, it came with 2.56( I think) is there any thing that I should know about the swap? I set up the pinion to the specs with the gear set, and the ring gear is way off from the backlash setting.(about 100 thou.) any help on this?

I'm not famlliar with the ten-bolt axles, but if they're like a 12-bolt, a ratio like 2.56 uses a 2-series carrier, and a 3.55 uses a 3-series carrier.

There s a spacer that is made, but not sure who sells it.
that you will have to use behind the ring gear to move it over, if you do not want to change to the 3 series carrier
