Restoring original TRICO Wiper arms
« on: April 29, 2011, 07:02:11 AM »
Has anyone here tried restoring original TRICO Windshield Wiper Arms?  My originals are straight, and in pretty good shape, but the Chrome on the "knuckle" is pretty dull.  I found a place where I can get the rivet, that fastens the Stainless arm to the "knuckle".  I have some other pieces I need to have plated, and thought I would do these too if it's not too much hassle.  AND if it's worth the bother.  Any help, or opinions appreciated.  Oh, forgot to add, this is a fairly early '67.  And I'm keeping it as much original as possible.  Thanks!

Mike,

I too am in the process of restoring an early '67 (10B) convertible, and would like you to let me know how they came out (should you continue with the replating process), as I may need to do likewise. If all goes well with the resto of the wipers, I may also need to inquire as to the source of the rivet. Should you have anything I can assist you with in the resto, just PM or email me.

In my research I'm finding conflicting description on what finish is correct for '67, bright polished, or satin?  What is correct?  I'm seeing a lot of places just offer same repop for 67-68-69, some offer satin, some offer bright.   Again, what is correct?

Federal law (MVSS Reflectivity standards) required satin beginning in 1967.

Would that be on all '67 models, or beginning in calendar year '67?  My car is an 11A - '66 build.  Thanks!

The standard became effective on September 1, 1966.
