Trans Detent Cable

I would like recommendations as to which company or companies make the best TDC for a '69 SS 350 {not sure if this matters but just in case...}. Pics would be great if you have any. All recommendations are very much appreciated.

If you are talking about the Console shifter cable.
I purchased Offshore repop & GM for my 68TH400 car and I had to file-elongate the slot in the end fitting to get proper length to detent alignment. I then purchased a GM version for my69 Pace car 350/300 th350 floor shifted car and it fit like a glove.

Cable Asm Trans 03956765 GR.4.047

Jim,

I noticed we both have the L48 Th-350 and both are Los built. Here is a pick of my cable assembly and I know it isn't correct. Can you please post a pick of yours so I can use it as reference?

Thanks.

No mine (3-speed auto. trans. - detent Control Cable) does NOT look like yours.

Mine looks like page UPC M38 Sheet A9 in the AIM.

I will try to snap a photo & post or e-mail direct.

Jim

Car has been stored at another location and I just moved it back home this afternoon.

The correct version of this cable is extremely hard to find.

Mine also looks like page UPC M38 Sheet A9 in the AIM.....

The metal bracket is available as a repro, but the correct cable is not.....go figure.

It took me over eight years to find a correct cable.......which a good friend of mine gave me........

You might find one in a junk yard with old cars still in it.....

I would think any 69 Chevy with a 350 / T350 trans combo would have it..........if your lucky to find it.

If you do that and find one......play the lottery that same day! :D

Yup, I'm beginning to realize just that.

Is there a part# for this puppy? Again, its for a 350/300HP TH350.

BTW: Can you post a pic of yours?

If I can get to my car, I'll post a picture later....
But....having "been there, done that"...I did a little searching, and found something that might help......

Try Desert Valley Auto Parts in Arizona.  They have a website that you can search for parts from all kind of cars.....which mostly look original.....
Get into their search engine, and do a search for all Chevrolet's in the yard.....I did, and there are plenty of 69 Impalas, which surely have the 350ci with TB350 trans combo.

You just have to be specific in what you ask for.....you need: 1) the holding / adjustment bracket off the rear two drivers-side intake manifold bolts, and 2) the cable which should be attached to the carb & trans.

The cable that you see near the carb / engine should look like a slot with a bolt that goes through the cable slot and tightens against the bracket attached to the engine.

I think this place may be your best shot.
Good luck and let us know if you scored or not.........I gotta good feeling about this.
