SPIRAL SHOCKS

I have 2 original shocks. One is part 3 3192420. The other is 3192831. Can anyone tell me what these are for and if they are the same shock, just one is a newer part #.

Sean, those are the part numbers used in the current reproductions. Here's the 3192420 and here's the 3192831.

Are yours date coded? If so, they could be originals (although most places also offer date coding on their shocks as well, so it's not a given). If they are, post a  picture of the date code. I believe (and Jerry can confirm this), that the repop shocks have a different font or size than the originals.

I bought them as NOS and they do have date codes. One is from 66 the other from 69. I was told these were both for a 67 camaro with mono leafs . They do look a little different , that's why I'm asking.  Not worried about date code, as much as fit and function. they are going on a "67 SS Camaro with mone leafs.

The only info I have on shocks is what's in the P&A and the AIM's. The P&A doesn't list either, but the 67 AIM shows the 3192420 as being used on the base models. It doesn't show the 3192831. However, the 69 AIM shows the 3192831 as being used on the base models as well.

However, that doesn't mean they weren't used on anything else. Shocks were installed based on several criteria, so these may have been used with other applications as well.

When you say base model for '69 I'm assuming that is a monoleaf rear spring set-up. If so, then they should work for a '67 with monoleafs as well. They are about 1/4 to 3/8" difference in length and travel. That was part of my concern.

That's correct. Mono leaf springs. However, the length difference is because of the way they mounted. 67's weren't "staggerd" like the 68 and 69's were.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. I don't think however that less than 1/2" of travel and length will be and issue as far as the shock working properly.
