Sorry for dredging up an old thread. Read several posts saying the shift knobs for non-console cars were two pc. and did not need a separate nut to align the shift pattern. Makes good sense. What I haven't read is if there is an application where the separate nut was used. I bought an original 5325 shift handle and it had one installed with same patina. It's clearly a special nut, so just curious what the correct application might be for it.
