Black windshield washer jar?

This has been in my '68 SS/RS 350 since I bought the car in '83. Anyone ever seen a black one before? I haven't. It appears to me to be original. It's black plastic all the way through, not dyed or painted.

GM did have some black washer jars in 68.  Not sure about Camaro, but have seen them for Corvette.  Does it have a part number on it anywhere?

Thanks Phil.  There's no part # on it although I pulled it out and on the bottom there is a  C  over a  3  like this:

Would a Vette jar be the same shape?   I'm not famiiar with Corvettes that much.  As you can see in the pic it fits the Camaro RS bracket perfectly.

Now, that you mention it, I believe the Vette jars were more wedge-shaped on the back to fit the contour of the car.  JohnZ could probably tell you more, but I think they went with black in 68 because the white jars were visible through the Vette's side "gills".  My original point, however, was that GM did make black jars by 1968.  That's why I asked about a part #.  I'll still try to look it up for you when I get home.  And let me just add, I do know that Olds was using black jars by 68.  --Not trying to say yours is not an original --just trying to figure out how we can verify it...

I posted the same question over at Camaros.net and I got 1 reply back saying that the Firebird jars were black.  What do you think?

Looks like you need to post on a Firebird or Cutlass (442)  site.  It would make sense that a black jar made by another GM division could fit your bracket.  I think that bracket dates back at least to 62 for most Chevrolets. But I will tell you, Classic shows a white jar on their online Firebird site.  I did find one parts company, oldmusclecars.com, that does offer a black jar as "optional" for 67 Camaro.
Are you planning to show your car?
...When you stop to think about it, a black jar looks (or blends) "better", when you open up the hood.  Although, at a show, when you see that white jar filled to the top with blue washer fluid, it sure "looks original". 
BTW, the original part # for the washer jar is 3840083.

Thanks for the good info especially the bracket info.  I was thinking it was unique to Camaro RS.  I'll check a Firebird site.  I'm a long way from showing the car, but when I do I think I'll keep the black jar in it.  Maybe I can get the judges scratching their heads.  I was just curious more than anything.  When I bought the car in '83 it was extemely original and unrestored, so I was thinking it might be something rare.  Maybe they just ran out of white jars that week or something.
