230 emblem

I have never seen a “230” engine emblem on any Camaro….I know the “extra cost” 6 cyl 250 engines had factory “250” emblems installed on front fenders….I know some Chevy ll Novas had 230 emblems factory installed (because that could be an option upgrade form a 4 banger). It has always been my belief that no Camaros have ever left factory with “230” emblem.
Someone just told me that they had and original camaro with factory  “230” emblem on the fenders of a Camaro with the original 230 engine.
Has anyone ever seen one?

Ed is correct. I can attest as it took me years to find the 250 emblems for my 68, and my car still has the “big 6” in it.

Mine is 67 and the 250 emblems are on lower fenders. I’ve seen 230 emblems that look very similar same drill hole pattern, just never on camaro.

Looking for a little schooling.
1- Why is the 230 emblem white/red/white, while the 250 is red/white/blue?
2- I assume the lack of 230 emblems on the Camaro is because it was the base engine. If that is true, was it not the base engine in the
    Chevelle and Nova?

My therory was that the Camaro was designed to be a more sportier car than the Nova (designed to be an economy car) and Chevelle (designed to be a "family" car), so Chevrolet wanted to hype the V8 engines more than the 6 cylinder cars. Not sure why they bothered to put the 250 emblems on but maybe because it was an optional engine? No way to know. William's read a lot of books about Chevrolet during those years so maybe he can shed more light.

I have never seen a Camaro with a 230 emblem, and I have owned a '68 with one (and a 3-on-the-tree), and three '69s with 250s (one with the rare Torque Drive "automatic" (which really isn't), and two with 3-speed manuals.  Oh, and also a '70 with a 250.

Here is a photo of the only '69 Camaro I have ever seen with a factory 230 and a 3-speed manual.  It was for sale by an auto repair shop in VA about 4 or 5 years ago.  They sold it 2 weeks before I spotted it .
