You shouldn't need to remove the tank if you have a means of supporting the tank in place while you remove and replace the straps that hold it in. Tips: Remove as much of or all of the fuel before you begin. Spray the retaining bolts with Liquid Wrench or equivalent several times in the day preceding the procedure. Make sure that you have a socket deep enough to slide over the retaining bolt and reach the nut. Use a flat board on a floor jack to avoid bending the bottom of the tank. Remove and replace the straps one at a time.
