what brand suspension parts did GM use?

Years ago I worked for a Camaro business. We had literally hundreds of NOS GM ball joints, tie rod ends, sleeves, bushings, etc. NONE of it was an exact match to the OE stuff on both the '67 Z/28 and the ZL-1.

Saginaw Steering Gear made steering gears, rag joints and power steering pumps; Chevy steering linkage (relay rods, tie rods, tie rod ends, idler arms, and pitman arms) were made at Chevrolet-Buffalo.

Buffalo may have sourced some of the detail parts from Saginaw.

And Buffalo then assembled the complete steering linkage, shipped to the vehicle assembly plant as an assembly/unit.

I knew that it came to the assembly plant as a unit, just didn't understand the differences in the manufacturing points.
