License Plate Screws
« on: October 24, 2009, 06:40:01 PM »
Did 1969 Camaros come from the factory with license plate screws? if so, what do factory screws look like? or did the dealer have to install them with their dealer plates?
The AIM just shows the "special nut" installed in the license bracket (page 14 A2)
69 RSSS ZL-2 4 speed, mint unrestored 04A LA built-SOLD
1968 GTCS mint unrestored original paint
1972 AMX 401 4 speed, cowl induction, twin-grip, A/C, unrestored, original paint
1963 Oldsmobile Jetfire factory Turbo and Methanol injection, 4 speed, posi, 1 of 4 known to exist

Yes - the "Attachment Unit - License Plate" shown in the Miscellaneous Shipping List (UPC 0, sheet C2 in the Assembly Manual) was placed in the glove box, and had four zinc-plated pan head slotted screws in a paper envelope. That package was usually sourced to sheltered workshops for the handicapped.

Yes, that looks like the original license plate screw.

'67-'69 all used the same "attachment unit" - same envelope, same screws.
