Pinstripe from facory ?

I was wondering if any first gen Camaro left the factory with pinstripes down the side of the car , or was it something the dealers added if called for . I've seen quite a few pictures of these cars with the little stripes and I am curious to know , thanks.

Yes, there were factory-applied pinstripes; in 1969, they were part of the Z21 Style Trim Group, and previous years also had them as part of option packages.

John , more specifically , were they put on in the 67 model year? Those 1/8 - 1/16 stripes were the ugliest thing a person could put on the side of a car , most body shops did them after paint jobs.

Yes, they were put on 67s. Search "pinstripe"; you'll get all the threads with pics.

So if you have a 1969 SS with style trim package, the car will come with wheel well strips??? i dont mean the D90 strip....but the wheel brows? like cortez silver the would be black? Gordon

Nope, not with the D90 stripe. IIRC, the ordering info states D90 and D96 were exclusive of each other.

I interviewed one of the pin stripers/painters from Norwood when I was writing the first book.  He was working at the Baltimore plant.

69 Pacecars are the only exception to the one stripe option rule.  67's  Could have the fender top pinstriping and the bumblebee nose strip, at least the 67 pacecars came that way.

Here's a photo of a typical plant pinstripe fixture - it's held to the side of the car with air-driven suction cups, and the painter pulls a Buegler striping gun along the guide rail on the fixture to apply the stripe. This is an off-line fixture on a '65 GTO - the Camaro striping fixtures were hung on the Final Line and the stripes were applied with the car moving on the flat-top conveyor.
