std. to repo fenders
« on: August 10, 2009, 11:23:35 AM »
I have a set of 68 NOS GM fenders, or, as I beileve. How can you tell the difference from GM to the repos. When I bought these, he told me they were GM but the e-coat was stripped off on the inside, NO STICKER. He planed on stripping both sides but stopped after he did the inside. The hood hinge nuts are T style, they weigh 29 pounds without extensions, each inner frame support has a # stamped in it Right is: 38, Left is: 42. The stampings and folds are tight and crisp and they are not drilled for emblems yet. I am going to try to sell these and want to make sure they are what they are.

Fwiw I have a set of 67 rs NOS fenders with holes. I drove to Yearone in Georgia and picked em up myself (back many years ago when they sold em) in the G.M. box so I know they are real deal. Also it included lower extensions and they are wired on.

The GM fenders have square (or nearly so) insert nuts for hood hinge bolts etc. The repros have holes with nuts behind.

I not sure what he meant when he said no holes, I meant mine have holes for the "Camaro" emblem.  :)
