The Camaro White Book lists a Stereo Tape System, option U57, being installed in 2, 746 Camaros that year. The Illustrated Camaro Recognition Guide stated it was mounted below the heater and included 4 speakers, but it was not available with air conditioning, Special Instrumentation, or radio with a rear speaker. Since the Special Instrumentation included the gauges mounted on a console, along with a clock also on the console, it would seem that the 8 track tape deck was not available with the optional gauge package.
