Engine VIN location - 1970 Z28

Does anybody know the location where the VIN number is stamped on the block for a July built 1970 Z28 Camaro? The only place we can locate it is on top of the transmission. Is the only place it is located on the transmission or should it also be stamped on the block?

If it is not on the block pad, look above the oil filter (and yes, on the transmission flange)....

it would be down in the rough cast by the oil filter. it runs vertical and its very hard to see in most cases.

If you want to learn more about second generation Camaro's I recemond this site decated to only second gens.
http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/index.php
Understand that I'm not saying don't come to this site or that the people on this site don't know second gens because I know they do, but the above site has a lot of great information.
70lt1z28 is correct it should be down by the oil filter where he stated.
