68 SS temp sensor
« on: June 22, 2009, 09:53:24 AM »
Hi Crew, been a while since my last visit. Multiple issues keep dragging me away from the only issue that really matters - my Camaro!!  :)
What's the correct p/n for the temp sensor for '68 396 with console guages. My parts book is not totally clear on this.
Also, is the connector a straight push-on round bullet style, or a clip that pushes on at right angles to a flange at the end of the sensor pin?
Cheers.

I don't know about BB, but I would assume they are all the same.  I just bought one from Lectric and it has the straight, push-on, round pin connection.

Yeah that's what's on mine atm, just a straight round pin, no flange, just a small groove about half way down the connector pin for the clip to snap into.
According to my parts book, this one pictured below is for 67 models and has the flanged pin, p/n 1513321
Group 1.150 in the 65 - 69 PnA is very confusing to decode  ???

Rob -

My '69 P&A list part number 6400759 for your application.

A quick search on Google resulted in this...

Below are some photos of an original unit...

That's what mine looks like.  Most of the supply houses get them from Lectric and you can order direct from them.  The only problem is they ship UPS so if that's all you order you pay 9$ for shipping a small part.

That's the one! Thanks guys :)
Mine still works ok but ages ago I bent the pin almost to the point of breaking off - not paying attention rolling the head over with it still screwed in!
