VIN vs. Cowl Tag Build #
« on: April 17, 2009, 05:41:20 AM »
I read the report here on this subject, which left me just as confused as before.   It is a 11A - 12437 LOS car, the seq. build # 8032, which in no way correlates with the VIN.#113583.(why is this so)   I guess my question is, as far as all Camaros built in '67, where does this one stack up as far as early????

Its the 8032nd standard interior coupe built.  It was also the 13583 rd Camaro built at the Los Angeles plant.

13583 would reflect a january build according to the vin date list on this site. That seems like a stretch for an 11E cowl tag. Could you post photos of both tags? Can you read the partial vin stamped below the cowl area?

Tom, I think you are looking at the wrong chart. His is a 67 model and his build is 11A not 11E.

Sep-66 104227   4227  104208
Oct-66 112746   8519  112733
Nov-66 122258   9512  122251

I think 113583 would work as an 11A build.

Thanks all !    I went back to the report here on VIN. & Cowl tags, now the different "threads" makes sense(ie; 8032 standard interior coupe)   I also forgot to mention, in position 2 (top right) is  A 638.   Somewhere I found an explanation of this, the first letter was used for build day of month( A=1st., B=2nd., C= 3rd., and so on) and the letters were only used for actual build days(not calendar days) can anyone confirm this?   This would mean the car was built on Nov. 1st.

#'s look fine.

A638 - Fisher didn't always follow the regular calendar, but the body was probably started about Nov 1.
