67 swap PG to 700R4

Has anyone successfully converted a Powerglide to a 700R4 in a 67? I believe I've got everything necessary including the crossmember from Bowtie Overdrives except for the driveshaft. Did you purchase a new driveshaft or shorten the stock one? Any recommendations out there? Any other tips or secets?

I put one in my 68rs and had my drive shaft shortened, also you may want to look at Steves custom camaro web site, he has a conversion that allows you to use the stock horse shoe shifter and it comes with an upgraded shifter position window, Scott

Shifter window is or at least was available through many Camaro parts venders. If you have any plans to ever return to stock, you might want to replace the shaft.

I have done this with my 68 as well. You will have to change the detent plate on your shifter with an aftermarket piece. I also used a vacuum switch off the carburetor to control converter lockup. Excellent driveability with this setup. Try 700R4.com

Yes, I used Bowtie Overdrives in my '68 and everything worked fine. After I installed it I measured everything and had Denny's Driveshafts (
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com
) make me a new one. It bolted right on. No other issues and a great upgrade.
