Repairs to bodys in the assembly plant.
« on: August 31, 2008, 11:13:56 PM »
I am new to the site.I am curious if any one is knowledgeable of cars that may have been taken off of the assembly line for repair, and then put back onto the line at a later date? My 68 Z28 has some issues with dates of the glass and axle being later than the trim tag date. There has been some repair done to the driver rear section that looks to be oversprayed at the factory. Trim 04 D, Axle F 4 8, and so on.

If a car was taken off line for repair it was done in hours, not days or weeks.  A late April built car (assuming the actual build of the car wasn't delayed after the tag was made) can not have a June axle in it from the factory.  The damage you see may have been caused by the shipper or dealer and was repaired there instead.
